Justin Engelke, 33, and Jordan Wilson, 30, co-founded Turnkey Building Group to simplify home building in Australia. Since its launch in 2021, the company has managed $1 billion in construction projects.
While most builders focus on construction, Turnkey Building Group created a different business model as an intermediary between customers and builders. In three years, it has built a company connecting homebuyers with 20 different builders across Victoria, streamlining the construction process from initial meeting to final handover.
After graduating, Engelke and Wilson started their careers at Dennis Family Homes, one of Victoria’s top 10 builders. Their display home office brought a fresh perspective that resonated with customers. “We quickly figured out how to perform the best we could,” Engelke reflects. “Our customers enjoyed the experience of coming into our office because it was just a bit more laid back. And they knew capable hands guided them.”
Engelke and Wilson launched Turnkey Building Group in 2021, introducing their “builder broker” model to Australian real estate. “We saw a gap in the market and realised that this could be done in a much better way where the customers are put first,” Engelke explains. “And what we didn’t realise immediately is that the builders would also prefer that way because the builders don’t necessarily want to deal with customers. They just want to build the homes.”
Turnkey Building Group works with 20 builders, from Victoria’s first and second-largest builders to smaller custom builders. This network allows Turnkey to offer varied products while providing unbiased advice and customer-focused service.
Turnkey Building Group has changed how Australians build new homes. The company bridges the gap between clients and builders, creating a business-to-business relationship that simplifies communication for everyone involved.
“What we offer is what you see is what you get,” emphasises Engelke. “We make sure that our builders complete everything from the landscaping to the fence to the letterbox and clothesline. Everything is done for our customers.”
Engelke and Wilson have led Turnkey Building Group to remarkable success quickly. The company has handled over $1 billion in house and land sales and grown revenue by 400% in the 2023-2024 financial year. The company serves over 400 clients, from first-time buyers to property portfolio investors.
This success drives bigger plans. Turnkey Building Group opened its second office in regional Victoria and plans national growth. “There are so many opportunities for people to build new homes in estates,” Engelke notes. “We’re branching to regional Victoria, and we plan to expand interstate.”
Engelke and Wilson have broadened their services. They became licensed real estate agents to sell finished homes for clients. They started Turnkey Investment Group and added property management, offering complete services from building to selling and managing properties.
The company has grown into a one-stop property shop. Turnkey Building Group leads the Australian real estate industry with excellent customer service and expert knowledge.
The company aims to continue expanding its services and reaching new areas. Engelke and Wilson will continue improving the home-building process for modern homeowners.
